PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Epol Yearling cubes provides a blend of balanced energy sources as well as a high level of quality protein for foals and young stock to ensure stable skeletal and muscle development, and encourage consistent daily weight gain.

The Yearling cubes help to maintain condition and top line and so are particularly suitable for young stock prone to weight loss, especially during the stressful weaning time when a temporary loss of appetite and subsequent reduction in growth rate and weight loss is frequently observed.

If the youngster is carrying too much bodyweight, yearling cubes can be fully or partially replaced with our balancers, thus maintaining the correct micro-nutrient levels  at the same time as reducing calorie intake.

Yearling cubes should only ever be used to supplement good quality hay and/ or pasture.

To ensure a healthy gut, good quality forage should be provided at 1.5% of bodyweight per day (7.5kg for a 500kg horse) , with an absolute minimum of 1% if calories need to be restricted.

Always ensure the minimum roughage requirement is met and then adjust the amount of feed depending on condition and workload. Meal sizes should preferably be limited to a max of 2kg per feeding.

The amount of yearling cubes fed per day will be based on multiple factors including breed, exact age, condition, and amount of roughage fed. However, its anticipated that 0.25-1% of anticipated mature bodyweight be fed per day. For a yearling that is expected to reach 500kg in adulthood that would be 1.25kg-5kg per day.

We do advise you to consult our advisors directly as youngsters require detailed monitoring throughout their growth stages.

It is very important to ensure that your horse is fed the correct portion of food by weight, not by volume! All feeds have different densities and thus do not weigh the same. Therefore, it is very important to establish exactly what weight (kg) your scoop holds of the specific product you are feeding.

Always introduce any new feed or product over a period of 7-14days and ensure fresh water is always available.
